If you are seeking ways to make the most of your tuition fee, check out these programs. These not only help your course work but also offer valuable support for career planning, all for free.

University of Ulsan extracurricular system ‘Ustar’

We have the ‘Ustar’ offered by our university. Through this, you can participate in various activities that can boost your skills. These programs are especially beneficial during the job preparation season. A significant advantage is the opportunity to interact face-to-face with professors from various other universities, as well as professionals from companies and institutions. Since these programs are continuously being offered, it’s better to visit the site regularly to explore areas of interest. Here are a few programs you can apply for on Ustar.

Career Counseling Center Programs

The programs offered by the Career Counseling Center focus on self-analysis and counseling to help in career formation. Apart from formal psychological counseling, there are activities like flower therapy aimed at providing emotional stability. Especially, the 'Career Psychological Test' is highly recommended as a pre-graduation program.

Center for Teaching and Learning Development Programs

The programs offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning Development include special lectures on public speaking, writing skills, learning consulting, Photoshop tutorials, and video production methods. They all aimed at enhancing individual skills regardless of major. For those lacking foundations in mathematics, physics, and chemistry among STEM subjects, the 'Tutoring program' is recommended. This curriculum ends just before exams, and it helps preview major subjects and enhances understanding of problem-solving processes. Thus, it could facilitate smoother exam preparation.

National Initiative ‘K-MOOC’

Furthermore, there is a national initiative called ‘K-MOOC’. It is a free online learning system for everyone from teenagers to university students, public, professionals, and job seekers. Especially, it offers courses in various fields: ‘university courses’ offered by multiple universities, ‘external courses’ in collaboration with various organizations, ‘general education courses’ in collaboration with EBS x JTBC, and ‘career competency enhancement courses’ for job preparation. Some university courses are offered by University of Ulsan professors and grant special credits upon completion. Courses granting special credits such as ‘Smart Factory (AI Manufacturing)’, ‘Future Mobility (Automobile Industry)’, and ‘Creative Problem Solving’ are primarily for developing STEM knowledge and are particularly beneficial for engineering students. Since these courses typically last 1-2 months and operate on a first-come-first-serve basis, it's recommended to note the application dates in advance.

Participating in extracurricular programs are not only good at academic learning but also provides students with valuable opportunities to fill in areas they may have lacked previously.

Above all, the greatest advantage for university students is the ability to attend all desired courses for free. For these programs are beneficial and not detrimental in any way, so if you need, you should try to take advantage of them diligently.
